In 1911, the great architect Le Corbusier travelled through Germany and produced these meticulous notebooks -carnets-. Along the way he met personalities who would have a profound influence on him, including Theodore Fischer, and changed the initial purpose of his trip, instead becoming absorbed in Germany's great urban programmes, the themes of working-class housing, and the need to complete his own training as an architect. These notebooks are filled with his writings, drawings, design studies.
