The development of graphic design began 120 years ago. A contemporary witness, Justus Brinckmann, the founding director of the Museum for Arts and Crafts in Hamburg collected examples of them. In doing so, he assembled a unique collection comprisng over 15,000 works on paper -posters, book titles, calendar sheets, postcards and letterheads- by Toulouse-Lautrec, Henry van de Velde, Beardsley, Kokoschka, Mucha, Peter Behrens a.o. German text.
